{ xx SLS }: SPRING BREAK’S OVER

& just like that, Vacation is over.

After Tokyo Fashion Week & just in dire need for some R&R, I went to Denver to spend some time with my best friend. It was basically a grown up spring break lol.

Before going, I made a pact to myself to be in the moment over the next few days.

After all, I haven’t seen her in YEARS. & I really wanted to be present with her.

It’s funny, at first, there was SO MUCH {self-imposed} pressure. But… each day got easier & easier.

In fact, it got a little addicting & felt a little naughty to be SO disconnected. I was joking with her that Erik is probably checking instagram compulsively to see what we are doing… the mystery really does add to it.

{ a quick trip to Boulder }

I’ll do a full recap on Denver but it was truly the vacation I needed. We swapped the iphone for a film camera & it, truly, felt like back in the 2000s.

We talked about all the years that passed & what changed and what hasn’t. I am so lucky to have her as a constant after all these years, from high school to now… but it was just me and her.

No phones, no outside influence, nothing.

{ the comfiest bed ever OMG – I need to get Megan on here to spill her secrets to bedding! }

One of the biggest highs was coming home & getting the film developed! The excitement I had when the film shop gave me back my envelope of three rolls was just like being in high school and getting our disposable cameras back from CVS lol.

In fact, one roll was particularly fun since it had some of last year’s New York trip on it. As Erik & I went through all the pictures, it was SO FUN. But more importantly, all the moments captured were “in-the-moment” moments and in a sense, very intimate.

I have a lot of thoughts {shocker lol} on my “digital detox” but I think it’s something as we get more and more connected, is something SO important & necessary! It felt like a virtual spa, I’m not even kidding.

THAT SAID: what goes up must come down, and it’s time to get back to work… & I’m ready for it!

Other than that, when I got back, Erik & I went to Whole Foods and we picked up a ridiculously huge Tomahawk steak. Basically, we’re living on that through the weekend!

It was like 4 pounds and only $35. A fun little nostalgia because there’s this ridiculous restaurant in Dallas I love called Nick & Sam’s. To set the scene {but unsure if they still do this, I haven’t been since 2013!}, when you wait for your table, it has a complementary caviar bar. Anyways, they are really known for their Tomahawk steak there. I don’t think I’ve had one since! But Tomahawk’s always remind me of that.

& $35 for a steak to feed the two of us all weekend long? Sold. Erik has been obsessed with chef Dario from Chef’s Table so he was channeling him as he cooked the steak upstairs on the grill.

Other than that, I’m feeling majorly rested & inspired and ready to hit the ground running!

I’ve been writing in my journal & incorporated a new one inspired by this post from one of my OG fave bloggers, The Skinny Confidential! Basically, I have a notebook with all of my BIG goals. On each post, you list 6 things you must do that day in order. She gets into much more detail so I recc her post {& this podcast} but it’s something I’ve incorporated recently that really keeps me on track & strategic.

Any other productivity tips & tricks? LMK!

Hope everyone had a lovely break & see you on Monday!

note: we already had some vegetables and grains so things may look a bit light - sorry, forgot to fully mention that in the vid. also this weekend, we will be in wine country all day as well as an event so that slashed a number of meals. -
