Well this was a good weekend – I hope everyone can say the same.

It was full of wine, BBQ (WAYGU BURGERS), and lots of rest which is a major win in my book.

On Friday, I made {semi} home-made pizzas for Erik & me. Used dough from Whole Foods, made my own sauce (tomatoes, basil, olive oil, red wine, garlic in a food processor), shredded up some mozz, topped with some turkey sausage rolled in flour (helps with browning – source), and cooked it in the oven at 450 for about 20 minutes.

TIP:: I always top my pizzas with a ton of fresh greens (love Super Greens by Organic Girl) with a squeeze of lemon – it gives an extra nutritional punch, plus they did that at Flora Farms in Cabo so it’s a welcome delicious memory!

The next day, we had a BBQ to attend in wine country!

I’ve mentioned throughout the blog that we are members at Twomey (sister brand of Silver Oak), and one of the huge perks is getting complementary admission to both wineries’ events. If you guys want to know more about wine memberships, let me know and I will do a full blown post. If you’re looking to join one now, email me and I can help get you in the right direction.

I will say one thing, but it is that both Twomey and Silver Oak can throw a damn good party & we have all of their events marked in our calendars.

We walked in, and the weather in Sonoma was perfect, to a beautiful spread. Think a Waygu Burger Bar with all the right fixin’s (including bacon!), a fresh salad from their garden, home made lemon bars, and all of their pinots. yes, yes, yes, yes and more yes.

We ended up spending all of Saturday there which was a very good choice, since they pulled out some of their library wines – including Silver Oak (which ages beautifully). One of my all time favourite wines is the Silver Oak 2007 Napa Cab. Insanely handsome and complex… like how I like my men? ha

We finished the day at the gold course where I sipped champagne while Erik hit the driving range!

One of my favourite weekend traditions is going to either Napa or Sonoma. I will admit, I prefer Sonoma over Napa. If we had it my way, we’d hit the Sonoma Coast every weekend…. post for another day tho.

I also love to dress the part! I switch up my normal skinny jeans & Portofinos for a wine country-esque dress.

One of my go to dresses is this stunner from Reformation. Unfortunately, it’s from years ago, but I love the airy fabric, the kimono sleeves and deep V’s. It is the Azura dress – and though it is long gone, I still like to post it because you never know and may be able to find it on Ebay, Poshmark, Tradesy, etc.

I kept it super simple with some lace up gladiators and leather cuffs on each wrist that I got at the Ferry Building Marketplace from a local vendor. To keep the neckline dramatic yet balanced (it was right above my navel), I did not wear any necklaces or chokers.

I also love this dress since it is a pull on dress, which means it is super airy (but also wrinkles easy too, oh well)!

Girl to girl though, one thing you need in a dress like this is both fashion tape & nippies – the best invention ever for edgy fashion (think lowwwww plunges or sheer fabrics). I was introduced by one of my all-time favourite blogs, The Skinny Confidential, and am obsessed.  I probably buy a pair of them 4x a year since I’ve discovered them from TSC. They are an absolute must.

As far as a deep V goes, just be sure to balance things out elsewhere. To keep the plunging neckline tasteful, I wore my hair down with a salt spray (love this Peach & Coconut Milk one) to create some effortless waves, I also wore knee high lace-ups, because it also brought some dimension to the look. This was edgy, but it also distracted the eye from the short hem. The focus was absolutely the plunging neckline, yet it was all balanced out.

As far as lips, I did my favourite lip power couple: Nothing Sexier lip liner with some Fleshpot – both by MAC (also mentioned here),

OH and can’t forget some huge sunnies – I wore these from Free People. I love the silver lenses!

Talk soon!

x Shannon

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Those shades seriously go with everything and anything laced up is a win in my book!

HA! I know, I know, it really can be a flaw at times BUT when it comes to pizza, you can’t screw around with that! 😉

And yes! Would love to talk more about it. Feels like I’m working two jobs now but is it weird that I like that chaos?! I need all your tips too so I can learn from one of the best! Balancing it has been a challenge (re: responding to a comment a week later… it happens) but time makes it all happen! I’ll e-mail you babe!

Have SO much fun in Vegas and talk soon! xx Shannon

This BBQ looks so relaxing and fun! Life is pretty good when the BBQs you have to attend are in WINE COUNTRY!

Thanks babe! I must admit from years of being in the wine industry, the proximity to Sonoma from San Francisco made deciding to move to SF THAT much easier 😉 xx
