What I Wore In Half Moon Bay

Long time no talk!

I’ve been on vacation for the past week or so but it’s nice to be back at it and in the swing of things. In fact, I can’t believe it’s already well into June!

For my birthday, we went to Half Moon Bay & stayed at the Ritz Carlton there. In 2014, kind of freshly into my relationship with Erik, he took me there for my birthday. I can’t begin to explain it but there was something very special about that resort.

For starters, it’s located right on the ocean. The sunsets are just unreal & nights are spent making smores at the firepit & drinking scotch. Fun fact, but scotch & smores is one of my fav pairings in the world but also a special thing Erik & I discovered together in 2014.

Anyways, it’s a very special place! As my birthday arrived, we had no plans. Since my birthday is always around the holiday weekend, we try to do SOMETHING with it. My needs were simple: I wanted to stay in Northern California, I didn’t want to fly anywhere, & I wanted to be oceanside with a sunset. That basically narrowed things down to Jenner & Half Moon Bay. We spent New Years in Jenner so we decided on Half Moon Bay.

STOKED! & immediately I got to planning my outfits.

This may sound weird, but I love love love matching the “vibe” to a place to my outfit – it’s one thing that makes traveling so fun in my opinion. In fact, I’m a HUGE fan of resortwear and just love the concept of it. Easy, breezy, effortless, & chic.

It’s no secret, I’ve been having a MAJOR pastel moment as of late… I mean, just look at my blog, right?! Well, as you know I KonMari’ed my place and found that my closet staples were all pastel blue, lavender, & white. I find they just give me a real feel good vibe.

As I was planning what to bring to HMB, I immediately thought breezy silk blouses, summer knits, & relaxed pants & pastel tones.

Also! Everything I wore was SUPER affordable & versatile. You’ll see some overlap here too. That makes it even better for travel.

I also forgot my memory card {#bloggerfail} so excuse the casual nature of the photos… but honestly, I kind of find it more fun ๐Ÿ™‚

outfit:

black tank + metallic chinos + white leather kicks + cat eye sunglasses + pastel sweater for when the sun went down

the second I saw these pants at the Gap down the road, I HAD to get them. I loved the light khaki colour & the subtle gold sheen. Especially pretty in the sunset! They are perfect with any top but I really dig it with a white or black tank. The white leather ked kicks are SUCH a good vibe. Not only are they comfy but go with every outfit! They have a certain “beachy” vibe too which I dig.

outfit:

silky button down + relaxed shimmery pants + silver mesh sandals + cat eye sunglasses

As you can see, I am having a major shimmery khaki moment! The second I saw these pants, I immediately thought MIAMI VICE. Not only are they beyond comfortable, but the elastic waistband tones down the dressy look and makes it look more resort. Pair these with a button down, half buttoned and tucked or unbuttoned & tied, sea spray. raw oysters, & a glass of champagne.

outfit:

pastel summer knit + pastel striped pants + bare feet! ๐Ÿ˜‰

This was basically my “sunset” look. It’s relaxed enough to enjoy a private sunset champagne but put together enough to throw on some ked’s and head straight to dinner! I love the print of these pants and I’ve been wearing them with baby tees & button downs! You’ll see, this sweater has gotten SO MUCH wear. I love how slouchy it is, but it’s the epitome of a summer knit. I like draping it off the shoulder ๐Ÿ™‚ย

outfit:

black tank + pastel pants+ white leather kicks + cat eye sunglasses + pastel sweater

This is kind of a mix of outfit 1 & 2 & a new pair of pastel pants! We grabbed a glass of wine & walked the beach so I wore it with the same black tank in the first outfit & threw on the sweater in case it was cold. This went perfectly with my trusty keds! Also, I wore it with the co-ord as pictured below. Such a cute set!! This was going to be my birthday outfit but it was sliiightly too cold. Note: I bought the Petite pants bc I wanted it to skim my ankle ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyways! This was everything I was wearing and v much the HMB lazy lux vibe. Lots of pastels, lots of breezy fabrics & easy fits.

Nothing with too much effort but it still had a total vibe, you know?

Since getting back to SF, I’ve been sure to make sure to keep the pastel game going strong. See?! ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you have any outfit questions, just let me know!!

Anyways, home sweet home – we’ve been addicted to the show TRUST on FX. Have you seen it?! SO GOOD. Highly recc.

talk soon!
