I started practicing yoga last month & I kind of can’t get enough. Yoga has been transformative in both my body and mind in ways I never could have imagined.

I recently found a studio that I am OBSESSED with. Basically it’s half yoga & half lifestyle and the workout is just insane. I’m addicted & feel better than I ever have.

I’ve also been minimizing my closet in a major way. For someone who was rarely working out, I had an INSANE, insaneeeee amount of workout clothes practically bursting out of drawers.

I went throughit and streamlined everything. I must admit! It makes getting ready for yoga a breeze which can make all the difference on the days when I don’t feel like it.

I put literally zero thought into it and ready to go.

This combo makes me feel excited for a workout – even on days I don’t want to go – as well as strong, confident, & with it!

the essellesse vinyasa yoga uniform

{ ONE }: High Waisted Black Yoga Pants: A good pair of yoga pants is a MUST. I personally love a super high waist & thick black fabric. I used to wear all sorts of colors but these days, I prefer black pants. You never get sick of them, they go with EVERYTHING, & especially nice to travel with. Beyond Yoga is my absolute favorite & I also LOVE GapFit! For vinyasa, I personally like a legging or 7/8 style and a huge fan of spicy details like mesh or cut outs 🙂

{ TWO }: Low Line Sports Bra: personally, I don’t like to wear a shirt to yoga. The studio I practice at keeps things at a constant 85 degrees & I HATE how clothes feel on my skin when I’m starting to sweat, kinda like sticky tack. Also, in some of the positions, it’s nice to see your body completely to correct as needed. I personally LOVEEEE Gap Fit’s Sports Bras in “low impact”. I like to stick to cool pastel tones like icy blue, pink, mint, & purple but I also like navy, grey, & can never go wrong with an all black get up!

{ THREE }: Breezy sweater or cardigan: since I just wear a sports bra in class, I like to top things off with a belted duster or loose hoodie. They’re easy to take on and off, but chic enough for grabbing lunch or coffee or walking to Whole Foods afterwards! Basically everything from this post is what I throw on over. I like to stick to soft shades like warm white, light grey, or pastels… and the softer the fabric, the better!

{ FOUR }: Adidas Sandals: I practice yoga barefoot but I always wear these too & from class. I find the white chic but it’s always like heaven walking home with the massaging soles! Super easy to slip on and off too. A bit more on them here. Be sure to size down! I had to go a full shoe size down.

{ FIVE }: Primary Elements Mineral Deodorant in Palmarosa: I love the way this deodorant smells for yoga – more here. Loaded with magnesium & essential oils, it’s fresh and not overpowering at all. ” ‘Palmarosa’ combines bright tangerine and aquatic nuances with sultry jasmine blossoms and warm sandalwood plus a touch of coriander and cinnamon leaf to create a scent that is both fresh and sensual.” via

{ SIX }: Gaiam Mint yoga mat: one of the first things I treated myself to was a new yoga mat! I was originally using a scarlet red one from 2006 {!} and let’s just say…. it was time for an upgrade. I love the cool mint – it’s so soothing on the eyes. There’s a nice thickness too which feels nice on my wrists. I def recommend getting a mat in a shade you enjoy looking at since you’ll be seeing a LOT of it lol. As a shocker to no one, I like cool, pastel tones.

{ SEVEN }: Candy Stripe Yoga Strap: How cute are the colors right?! What really sold me is that it doubles as a stretching strap. I use it constantly – both at home & in class – and appreciate how nifty and versatile it is. It makes rolling up the yoga mat & going a cinch too.

{ EIGHT }: Simple Modern Tumbler in Sweet Taffy: Yall already know I’m obsessed with this cup! I love the pastel ombre, it’s pleasing to look at and basically goes with everything I’m using. I know it may sound silly but your outside surroundings have such an impact on how you feel so get what you like! Luckily this comes in a million shades & various ombres 🙂

SO- that is what I wear to vinyasa yoga!

As far as my engagement ring, I don’t wear it to yoga. I can’t wait to tell everything in a big long wedding post – coming!! – but there’s a story behind our rings. When we were in the Sonoma Coast, we got our wedding bands which are made out of seashells – so I wear that instead for anything strenuous like workouts or activities that I’ll be using my hands for. I wear my engagement rings 90% of the time and one of my shell rings 100% of the time, does that makes sense? I have two shell rings – an iridescent white & blue one – so I switch out which one I wear depending on what color sports bra I’m wearing!

I wanted to do this post because as I was getting started, I really didn’t know what to wear to classes. I kind of just winged it, which got the job done for sure. However, as I found my style, with both the classes & fitness-wear, it’s made things more fun & simple and such a treat mentally. It’s a mix of simplifying down to what I have {& enjoy!} with upgrading mindfully.

As far as restorative yoga, I’ll make a full blown post on that because I go completely different – think baggier, relaxed layers

What do you like to wear for yoga? Also, any yoga posts you want? Let me know 🙂
