{ Infused Detox Water via Soma Carafe // Champagne at Shannon's }

Hey what’s up hello

In my fridge… I have, not one, but TWO Soma Water Filters.

And I am obsessed. I use them daily.

I have the pitcher for using large amounts for cooking or for my cat & I use the glass carafe for myself.

One thing I am super diligent about is making sure they are always full. I probably go through an entire carafe a day, and a pitcher every 1-3 days.

As I was filling it up the other night, I had a bunch of lemons on hand, so I figured why not?! and sliced some up and put them in the glass bowl before I added the water.

The next morning, I had ice cold lemon water, which I can honestly drink all day. I added some ice, lemon wedges, ginger powder, & cayenne and it was like a cold version of my Spicy Lemon-Aid!

Not to mention, aesthetically, the minimalistic design of the Soma Carafe was just as visually pleasing aka majorly instagram worthy.

A major win all around!

This weekend, I made a batch of detox water & let me tell you…. this will be a staple! In fact, I am considering ordering a whole new carafe so I can always have this on deck!

I like to use it as a base for my morning lemon waters, then add cayenne & a lil ACV.

Whenever I am looking for a little detox, my go to’s are always ginger, lemon, and turmeric. I usually use the powders but since I was able to get my hands on some turmeric root, I wanted to infuse it.

I used my Soma carafe, which holds 48 ounces.

As far as the ginger & turmeric root, I used about a thumb-size. Use as little or as much as you would like.

The lemon I used was HUGE – bigger than a baseball huge – so I only used one, but I recommend using 2-3 regular sized ones. I love Meyer but any lemons will do.

Wash the ginger, turmeric, and lemon thoroughly. Slice them up into rounds, & simply put them in the basin of the pitcher right before you fill it up! Place it in the fridge, and let it infuse for at least two hours & you will have a major water upgrade on deck!

The variations are endless, as well! Other combos I recommend are:
– watermelon + mint + lime
– raspberry  + ginger root + lemon
– strawberry + basil + lime
– cucumber + mint + honeydew
– grapefruit + rosemary + lemon
– pomegranate + apple + cranberries
– cucumber + mint + watermelon

…. I can seriously go on and on.

Now as far as how I like to use it, I put it all down here like a recipe.

Trust me.

It’s SUPER easy, it’s silly.

⚜ Detox Water & Stuff ⚜

Ingredients ::

Detox Water {recipe above}
1 shot of organic raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar {I like to use a shot glass}
cayenne powder
Squeeze of Lemon

Optional ::

Turmeric powder if you can’t find tumeric root

Directions – literally so easy! ::

In a glass, add ice, a shot of apple cider vinegar, & fill with water. Sprinkle cayenne, turmeric powder if using, squeeze in more lemon & add the cayenne – as much as you like. If you are looking to add some sweetness, add a few drops of liquid stevia. Done, son.

You can also have some fun with this – think of all the additions: probiotics, essential oils {i recommend grapefruit, lemon, or orange}, aloe vera, vodka, gin…. you get it.

Anyways, give the waters a go! Having a water filter on hand just makes it too easy.

Now, tell me. What are your favourite infusions or things to add to waters? A watermelon-mint one is on my list ASAP.

OH! Also, this is the perfect way to upgrade a vodka or gin water…. #imjustsaying

  • we found a super cute, new to us winery called @homewoodwinery ❤️ so much charm and the wines were so fun: think low alcohol, silky smooth, easy day drinking wines ✨ #slswine #sonoma #napa #winetasting #winery #californiawine #momentswithsunday

  • can’t get enough of pinot noir 🍷 I personally think they can go with almost anything {same w champagne & rosé}. We recently joined @saintsburywinery and absolutely love them. Awesome Pinots & Chards. They are so easy to get to from SF, right across from the @carnerosresort, & the tasting experience there is just a BLAST ✨
I’ll get it all on the blog but some of the standout pinots were:
⚜️2016 Pratt Vineyard {Sonoma Coast} :: the Sonoma Coast is my fav region up here. More on that another day but this was SO GOOD. Think lavender, violet, dark fruit, blood orange, & racy acidity... dying to be drank w some proscuitto
⚜️ 2016 Sundawg {Russian River Valley} :: bright juicy cherries with a toasty nuttiness and tomato leaf - seriously!! Each sip just begs for another and another and another...
⚜️2016 Stanly Ranch {Carneros} :: lush berries, Tahitian vanilla, & cigars. A pinot with some serious sex appeal. This wine is def one to impress... but make sure your company is worth it, like don’t waste this on a kcufboy lol
...we even got to taste a 2002 Carneros Pinot which was just SMASHING. It’s amazing how complex and intriguing it was.
Ok now bc I’m so curious, what pinot would you choose? ps - don’t miss their rosé of pinot noir, SO juicy but still dry and only like $22 ✨ #slswine #pinotnoir #winetasting #sonomacoast #russianrivervalley #carneros #napavalley #saintsburywinery
