AROMA IS THERAPY: reviewing the high-tech aromatherapy + diffuser by AERA

I am a long time fan of aromatherapy.

Whatever ails you, I strongly believe aromatherapy can help to provide a solution.

Looking to chill out before bed? Try a little lavender & chamomile.

Looking to clear the air? Peppermint & eucalyptus has you covered.

Looking for a romantic mood? May I suggest bergamot & ylang ylang?

I LOVE aromatherapy and it’s a huge part of my lazy luxury lifestyle. Picture me like a wizard constantly making blends for every mood. I absolutely love the stuff.

A few months ago, sent me their Aromatherapy oils to try. They came in 4 different scents for 4 different moods: Deep Relax, De-Stress Mind, Revive Morning and Support Breathe.

What I really loved about it is the one that draws you in the most is the one you need the most. It was interesting because within the week of using it, different scents did appeal to me. It was fun to mix and match the scent to my mood… a little addicting even.

I was so in love with their oils, they asked me if I’d like to try their smart diffuser so I did. & I’m glad I did.

Not only are their fragrances some of the most pure & clean, the diffuser itself is beautiful. It’s a smart, high tech diffuser: meaning, I can control it remotely from an app, can customize exactly how much {or how little} of the scent I want, & it has some of the most even scent distribution I’ve ever used with a diffuser.

SO- I’m here to tell you all about here on essellesse!

First things first, let’s talk the diffuser.

Most diffusers you find these days are plastic, a little bulky, & runs on water & heat. Basically, you fill up the chamber with water, add a few drops of the oils, & it will heat up into a steam and disperse into the air.

The aera diffuser is completely different. For starters, no water is used at all or heat. They use a “microdroplet” technology that converts the essential oil liquids into ultra-tiny droplets which are 50x smaller than traditional aerosol droplets. To put it in perspective, 1 aerosol droplet = 125,000 aera droplets. What makes this so special is that the aroma molecules are invisible & distribute an even scent. Much more even than my normal diffusers and absolutely no residue, mist, or humidity – which I personally appreciate.

SO- you take an aera capsule, plug it in, & it will automatically put the capsule on and get down to business. By automatically, I mean, you’ll see it robot-style bring down the fragrance – it makes for a good instagram, ha!

It’s super high-tech but also very easy to use. What makes it smart is that you can connect it to wi-fi and control it on the Aeraforhome app. Basically, you can make your own schedule on the app, keep track exactly how much of your capsule is left, can set it up with Amazon Alexa {so you can voice control to turn it on, off, or adjust accordingly}, & set up schedules. Say you’re out of town and want to come home to a beautifully smelling house? You can set all that up with the app on the uber home from the airport.

The Aera diffuser itself runs for $150 {no app} -$200 {with the app – which is what I have} which is pricy for a diffuser but I personally can tell the difference.

The scent distribution is completely even but not too overpowering at all. It makes our apartment smell like a high-end spa or luxe hotel, where I find the other diffusers aren’t as concentrated or have that “high end” vibe. I also LOVE that there’s no oil residue anywhere so there’s no extra cleaning like I have to do with my other diffusers. It’s completely non-toxic, hypoallergenic, & sustainable. All good things & they are VERY transparent on the ingredients. Finally, I absolutely love how sleek, modern, & high end it looks. A lot of the sleek, luxe diffusers are in this price range these days.

The diffuser does have a slight hum as it disperses the fragrance, but nothing too distracting in my opinion. It also needs to be connected to a power outlet, but the cord is pretty long so I haven;’t had any problems on “where to put it”.

As far as strength, a 5 works perfectly for my office & downstairs area. If I have it running full bore at a 10, you can even smell it upstairs! It’s great for when we have guests over & amazing how strong it is – but still not overpowering at all.

They use capsules made exclusively by aera. I’ll admit, at first, I was a little disappointed that I couldn’t make my own blends…. but after I used them, that went away fast.

The blends and capsules have a three layer scent with base, middle & top notes, much like a perfume in a sense. They are much more clean & pure than anything I’ve ever used or made {LOL just being honest}.

I’m serious, I’ve never felt like any of my oil blends made the air as clean as theirs.

I also love how clean they work. No residue, no synthetic fillers, NOTHING. My only wish is that the capsules themselves are recyclable & refillable to cut down on waste.

I also love that they are non-toxic, hypoallergenic, & safe for pets. I have a cat and it can get overwhelming on what essential oils are safe & what are dangerous… not to mention, there’s a lot of conflicting information out there.

I really appreciate that aera takes all of that out of the equation & EVERYTHING they make is safe for both pets, children, & even adults!

In fact, if you have pets, I can’t recc Aera enough – it completely neutralizes any pet smells – in fact, some reviews even stated that they have 11 {!} rescue dogs and you can’t smell them at all.

Let’s talk their aroma therapy blends real quick

Each capsule is $50. That may sound like a lot but they seriously last forever & the quality is second to none. If you want to try the sets, you can get the sample set above pictured for $20 before committing here. I LOVE the sample set! I use a few drops in my bath & on my wrists depending on the mood. Also, you can use that $20 off your $100+ order which is always nice.

Deep Relax: restful & tranquil chamomile, vetiver & sandalwood. I always put a little of this on my wrists before bed! This one is great for anxiety before bed.

De-Stress Mind: focusing & calming frankincense, petitgrain & wild chamomile. This may sound silly but on stressful days, I love to just keep this on my desk and just smell it when I need a hit.

Revive Morning: refreshing & invigorating with juniper berry, rosemary & grapefruit. I like to do a little on my wrists during my morning journal seshes before I shower – it really wakes me up!

Support Breathe: clarifying & uplifting with tea-tree, pine, & eucalyptus! This one is my personal favourite and what I have in my diffuser. It literally smells like an equinox in the best way! {off topic but I looooooooove how Equinox smells and always said if they sold a room spray / candle / oil, I’d buy it and this is the closest I’ve found!!}

They have a TON of other fragrances so there’s one for every mood. The Linen & Cherry Blossom are on my list next!

QUICK NOTE: but keep the capsule upright at all times or it will spill. I accidentally knocked mine over and learned the hard way but thank goodness it smells so good or Erik would have thrown a fit lol

Anyways, had to share!

HAPPY WEDNESDAY! I’ve been feeling a little off this week so the aromatherapy has been so helpful.

I’m currently building a new website from scratch and I feel like I’m back in 2014 when I was first launching this. I was just telling my friend Colette, it’s as if I’m back to square one with everything. It’s a little overwhelming but one thing I find with all of this is the “light at the end of the tunnel” is always WAY closer than you think.

Hopefully we will be live soon!

See ya tomorrow for a fun lil wine post!
