I’m all out of champagne over here… introducing essellesse ♡

Lifestlye Blogger, Shannon Silver talks evolving her blog and changing names from Champagne at Shannon's to essellesse

Well well well…

SO much to catch you up on.

Within the past week, I left the Marina, live with Erik, & have a new brand. Let’s just say, when I change things up I go HARDCORE with it.

The move has been {& still is} super overwhelming and I swear, unpacking is worse than packing. I knew this move was going to be a beast & I knew I would be semi MIA so I got a little sneaky over here.

Thanks to the help of my friend, Nick {& sincerely, thank you so much}, we silently transferred my  domain & rebranded my blog.

Goodbye Champagne at Shannon’s & hello essellesse!

I am straight stoked for the change. Here’s why I did it:

When I decided to launch a blog in 2014, things were a lot different then. The blogging world has changed in a major way and instead of a personal blog, now it’s all about the online brand. The blog was my sole focus then, but now, I had to evolve to incorporate an instagram & plan for the future. If we are being transparent, the future is hopefully a product line down the road.

Anyways, over the past 3 months since going full time, I’ve felt a little… disconnected.

To be honest, I started feeling like the blog name sounded a bit elementary. If I was to ever have a collaboration, either product or online, I hated the way that Company Name x Champagne at Shannon’s looked.

Also, I felt that it was a slightly alienating name. Though I am a certified sommelier, this is not a wine blog nor is it an alcohol blog. Sure, I talk cocktails & wine at times but it’s just a facet of my lifestyle. That said, I didn’t want to alienate non-drinkers. I also found it a little confusing since it wasn’t an alcohol blog.

So my funk kind of hit and at times got the best of me. I felt like I was having an online identity crisis.

We went to Half Moon Bay for my birthday & that’s where everything changed.

There must be something in the water there because that trip was transformative and invigorating for Erik & I. My brand and future brand became crystal clear… from the aesthetics there, to the outfits, to just the way of life. It was easy, breezy, & a bit luxurious. We fell in love with the “lazy luxury” vibe… & well, it has kind of stuck with me lifestyle wise.

It felt right – I also realized my instagram was boring as hell. It was all photos of me but what was the value, you know? To be honest, many were a little too staged. I took a different approach and just casually posted and posted often & it’s made everything fun again… not only that, it’s developed the vibe, brand, & aesthetic I want.

Now don’t get me wrong, the content will remain the same but everything just feels more cohesive & more me.

So let’s talk about the new name

essellesse

essellesse {pronounced SLS} is my initials spelled out. The e at the end makes it a palindrome which I dig. I also like that I can abbreviate the blog to SLS vs C@S {which I was not a fan of}.

It’s my name in a not so obvious way and if it’s a lifestyle blog on my lifestyle, what better way to incorporate myself? Also,  love how it looks for a potential product line or collaboration.

It also feels a little more grown up. I started my blog in my late 20’s and now as I’m in my 30’s, I felt like the name had to grow up a little bit.

SO- pour some champagne out for Champagne at Shannon’s. It was a fun round but cheers to the next one with essellesse!

Quick note: my email address has changed to sls@essellesse.com

The domain transfer was a bit of a gnarly process so if you have any issues at any time, please let me know right away. the champagne domain will still work and transfer accordingly. But you never know what glitches may come up.

On a final note, if there is ever anything you want to see on my blog, just let me know 🙂

Well, that’s all I got! We are loving the new place & it’s so nice to conjoin the spaces. As fun as living alone was, it’s more fun with him. It’s also nice because there is less time of us just sitting around waiting for the other person. It all feels effortless. I can’t wait to get everything unpacked, get back in the swing of things & pick things up full force.

Also, I wouldn’t be a real blogger if I didn’t mention the Nordy’s sale, right? I’m currently window shopping and seeing what picks are rad. Have you shopped it yet? Let me know what you got!

Talk soon,

x SLS

  • house hunting in west village ⚜️ jk... or am I? #nyloveyou #slsnyc
  • graduated from #fohru yesterday 🎓📃 I learned SO MUCH from the @fohr.co conference but here are my biggest takeaways - which applies so much more than just influencers and Instagram but really any field:
⚜️ give life back to your content & passions. Whatever your niche is, make it come alive. Tell your story & give it life. Don’t be a character, be yourself. What is the story you are telling about your life?
⚜️ to “influence”, you have to teach someone something. Work with what you know and have and your niche is what you are an expert in. Stay true to your craft!
⚜️ create timeless content. The internet is forever so create content that will still get hits years from now.
⚜️ organic content is SO MUCH MORE important than sponsored content. This is CRUCIAL.
⚜️ Be more than “just an influencer”. What can you provide others beyond an Instagram post? This can create opportunities you never thought was possible! Showcase your expertise & be dynamic.
⚜️ Collaborate, collaborate, COLLABORATE! Support likeminded influencers and grow your relationship. You will succeed together, create rad content along the way, & make lasting friendships {love you @colette.prime!}
⚜️ INSTAGRAM WILL DIE. This was written on a slide {wish I got a photo of that for the gram ha} but it will & sooner than you think. What is your plan beyond instagram? Work on it NOW. Instagram is a {VERY} short game - play the long game to create sustainability.
⚜️ don’t worry about the numbers. Seriously, it’s dangerous to fret over follows & unfollows so take care of your mental health. I can’t tell you how many mega influencers and people behind brands said this: numbers don’t matter but who you are, the content you produce, your work ethic, and how you make people feel does.
⚜️finally, BE KIND & HUMBLE. I was in awe by how NICE everyone was, no matter how huge they are. Your numbers {which don’t matter!!} don’t make you better than anyone. Work hard, be nice, stay humble.
✨⚜️✨
Lastly, I can’t recc the @fohr.co youtube series “A DRINK WITH JAMES” w @jamesnord enough. Really just a wealth of information on the influencer world. It will set you up for success. Anything else you wanna know, just ask!!
