My favourite jeans in my closet right now… & they are $30!

The second I saw these jeans on Express’s website, I had to have them.

I’ve spent the last two weeks pretty heavy both online and online shopping.

Let’s rewind a bit. I mentioned here that I got a haircut that, well, I didn’t expect. I went in for curtain bangs and a tousled kind of lob? And out I left with full on bangs and the length still there. I was very self conscious to get in front of the camera. That was hard considering this is basically what I do, you know?

In my 30 something years of haircuts {minus 2014 – 2018 lol}, I’ve never had one that was so shockingly different & not what I asked/anticipated. I fully did not expect the emotional toll of it. I was a bit of a hermit and did a LOT of online browsing and shopping. A coping mechanism, if you will.

How I online shop is a nightmare probably to everyone. I don’t just add to cart and go.

Ohhhhhh no it’s quite the opposite. Think a million tabs open per each item, going as far as 10 pages in per category and really evaluating what to get. Let me just say EVERY SINGLE review is read. knowing fit is so important to me as  I do not shop via size, I shop how I want it to fit on me which is generally oversized so reviews & measurements are key.. I even shopped like this tediously when I would slack off at my old full time job – ha! GREAT way to pass the time #badadvicefromshannon

As a blogger, I online browse quite often.

Two reasons: one- it helps me keep a finger on the pulse on what is on trend. two- I never know what I will find!

Part of my morning routine after journaling is spending a lot of time on both depop & various online retailers to see what’s going on and stay in tune with the times.

I do have a pretty clear idea on what to expect for Fall –  I’ll do a full blown post on my trend predictions but absolutely expect a retro vibe. I feel like we are still in the 80’s {thank g} but more late 70’s/early 80’s rather than the Spring & Summer’s late 80’s / early 90’s.

Also on that note, I think it’s safe to say that the 80’s was an awesome time in fashion and I’m glad to see it finally getting the recognition it deserves.

ANYWAYS-  the second I saw these jeans {I think I was on page 15 lol}, I knew I had to have them. They are completely on trend for Fall & reminded me of i.am.gia’s ace pant’s sexy older sister.

Here are 4 reasons why these Express Super High Waisted Contrast Stitch Stretch Wide Leg Jeans are on trend for Fall:

suuuper high waisted

a mix of a wide leg and a flare

contrast stitching

retro belted

Here, I’m wearing it with an oversized white tee & my RASK jacket but would also be chic with a white or ivory mockneck or cable knit and tweed blazer… and of course a calculator watch WHICH IS MY FAV THING I OWN RIGHT NOW, I LOVE IT FOR FALL, AND DESERVES A POST ON ITS OWN. COMING SOON.

The belt can also be removed and I think it would be hella chic with a leather brown or black belt… depending what you wear on top.

These are also probably THE MOST flattering jeans ever.

They are very high waisted and fitted around the waist and even very tops of the thigh, then flare out.

This gives the illusion of mile long legs & a tiny waist. I feel like since they are really high waisted, they really kind of hold everything in place lol

The length is also perfect for heels or platforms. They are a little too long on me to wear with flats but the length is perfect with heels so I’m not getting them altered.

Not to mention, whenever I wear these out, I get complements galore.

They also look wayyyy more expensive than what they are. They are on sale for $50 {right now with an extra 40% off!}… aka ~$30!

Anyways I had to share because they are going FAST in sizes and will likely be sold out over the weekend. Pro-tip, but almost every Sunday, Express will further discount sale items so I wanted to post this before the weekend.

Also, if you’re a shoprunner member, they do 2 day shipping. I signed up for Shop Runner back in 2015 and it’s one of my fav programs. I know it applies to Brooks Brothers too!

Speaking of a statement contrast stitch, I have a sneaking suspicion that True Religion will have a revival in a MAJOR way in the near future. Think late 2018 / early 2019. Isn’t it crazy to see the y2k trends come back in style? Time sure flies. BUT that is a guess I have. I guess we’ll report back in a few months.

Happy Outside Lands Weekend! I will be spending it inside for sure with no crowds. Maybe a dance party with Lucy at home but I’m starting to sell a lot of my clothes on depop next week so I’m spending the weekend getting prepped for that. Be sure to follow me on both instagram & depop as I will be hosting a TON of giveaways for free items of your choice… including designer. You can only win if you’re following on both accounts though & I’m petty enough to check, ha!

Ok- I wanna hear from you. What trends are you anticipating for Fall? Also, sorry to be annoying and talk about Fall in early August… but it will be here before we know it!

  • maybe it’s the New York speaking but I’m kinda digging an 80s Wall Street vibe for fall {three-martini lunches included} ⚡️🍸🏦 #slsnyc
  • house hunting in west village ⚜️ jk... or am I? #nyloveyou #slsnyc
  • graduated from #fohru yesterday 🎓📃 I learned SO MUCH from the @fohr.co conference but here are my biggest takeaways - which applies so much more than just influencers and Instagram but really any field:
⚜️ give life back to your content & passions. Whatever your niche is, make it come alive. Tell your story & give it life. Don’t be a character, be yourself. What is the story you are telling about your life?
⚜️ to “influence”, you have to teach someone something. Work with what you know and have and your niche is what you are an expert in. Stay true to your craft!
⚜️ create timeless content. The internet is forever so create content that will still get hits years from now.
⚜️ organic content is SO MUCH MORE important than sponsored content. This is CRUCIAL.
⚜️ Be more than “just an influencer”. What can you provide others beyond an Instagram post? This can create opportunities you never thought was possible! Showcase your expertise & be dynamic.
⚜️ Collaborate, collaborate, COLLABORATE! Support likeminded influencers and grow your relationship. You will succeed together, create rad content along the way, & make lasting friendships {love you @colette.prime!}
⚜️ INSTAGRAM WILL DIE. This was written on a slide {wish I got a photo of that for the gram ha} but it will & sooner than you think. What is your plan beyond instagram? Work on it NOW. Instagram is a {VERY} short game - play the long game to create sustainability.
⚜️ don’t worry about the numbers. Seriously, it’s dangerous to fret over follows & unfollows so take care of your mental health. I can’t tell you how many mega influencers and people behind brands said this: numbers don’t matter but who you are, the content you produce, your work ethic, and how you make people feel does.
⚜️finally, BE KIND & HUMBLE. I was in awe by how NICE everyone was, no matter how huge they are. Your numbers {which don’t matter!!} don’t make you better than anyone. Work hard, be nice, stay humble.
✨⚜️✨
Lastly, I can’t recc the @fohr.co youtube series “A DRINK WITH JAMES” w @jamesnord enough. Really just a wealth of information on the influencer world. It will set you up for success. Anything else you wanna know, just ask!!
