Graphic Tees are a favourite here.

Yet again, another trend that was really changed by the 80’s.

As I’ve gotten more and more fascinated with the decade, I’ve gotten to reading & watching more and more about the history of it. ย Again, I’m so completely enamoured with it since it is easily the pivotal decade for fashion, technology, social standpoints, and much more.

To really simplify things, let’s go back in time a bit.

In the 50’s, white t’s were all the rage. You can just picture it, right? white tee, leather jacket, blue jeans, slciked back hair, & a cigarette.

Come the 60’s, especially for boys, printed shirts involving sports & such became more and more preminent.

The 70’s were all about band tees & things started getting a little cheeky {i.e. Mick Jagger wearing a “Who The Fuck Is Mick Jagger?” shirt}. Things started getting a bit more political, and you can really make a statement from your tee.

Now, enter the 80’s.

By now, brands wanted a piece of it. The 80’s was the time that brand names made their statement on their tees. I’m talking everything from Espirit, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Guess?… you name it.

This was the first time in clothing history big brands really made it known what you were wearing & set the tone for the 90’s, y2k {who can forget the major LV moment of the 2000s?!} & it’s come back full circle with the infamous Gucci logo tee which now sells for a ~*casual*~ $500.

After fashion brands got in, brands of all sorts also made their own apparel: think Marlboro, Budweiser, Coca Cola, Pepsi, etc.

With the graphic tee, a brand can also display their personal or political beliefs, blending fashion and making a statement! We see this plenty, today.

Pretty fun to think of the history of such a simple piece of clothing, right?!

SO- speaking of labels, let’s talk about what I’m wearing!

First off, how good is this DARE shirt from the early 90s?! It was my first @depop purchase! Have you shopped depop yet? It’s awesome for vintage finds! Basically, it’s like instagram for vintage clothes! You follow users, like their photos, & if something tickles your fancy, you can purchase in less than 5 seconds. I’ll do a round up of some of my favourite shops soon. BUT I shop there often. Sometimes it’s a little TOO easy!

And this jacket?! It gets alllll the heart eye emojis that I can heart! This gem was a rad vintage find at Barcelona from, yes, the 80’s. I found it in the men’s section but I had to have it.

I love the sleeves, the vintage adidas logo, & the neon collar!

As far as the tees (or sweatshirts) go, ย I prefer the unisex fit! With men’s sizing, I like a small, and with women’s, I like to go up to a large. I prefer them to be more relaxed.

In my picks at the bottom of this post, I included some men’s shirts / sweatshirts for that very reason

Anyways, these days, graphic tees are hotter than ever so thought it would be fun to share a little history on it!

In fact, every concert I go to, I always get a tee because with each wash, it fades it and cracks the screen print in the most perfect way. With enough wear and tear, it will get that worn in look and feel.

Anyways, happy almost Friday! I hope you enjoyed my mini champagne fashion week! It’s been fun getting retro on you guys. I’ll be back with the Champagne Edit tomorrow and back to my normal schedule of posting next week!

Anything else you want to see, just let me know ๐Ÿ™‚
