The Champagne Edit :: Frosé, Cauliflower Pizzas, & more!

OKAY was it just me or did this week go at a snail’s pace??

No big plans over here, it’s our last weekend before we leave for my birthday next week so looking forward to staying inside and hiding from all the Bay to Breakers nonsense.

Erik & I have a semi-new tradition of picnicking in the park on Sunday which is something I have been LOVING! We generally go for a run or play some tennis and then meander over to the park with beers & all. It’s something I look forward to all week.

We’ve also been making homemade pizzas!! We gave the whole cauliflower crust pizza thing a go last weekend and was floored by how good it was. I am still perfecting my own recipe so I’ll be sure to post it but in the interim, I’m allllll about these premade ones by Trader Joes.

As far as a good pizza sauce, here’s what we did!: crushed tomatoes, chopped garlic, chopped onion / shallot, olive oil, chicken broth {can omit if vegan}, crushed red peppers, salt / pepper, & red wine. Simmer down for 30 mins & blend in a NutriBullet {or any blender}. SO good & easy – give it a go! After blending, sometimes I like to stir in chopped spinach & kale for some extra greenz. EAT ME }: Golden Goddess Turmeric Hummus by Minimalist Baker :: Adding turmeric to hummus is seriously genius! I can’t wait to give this recipe a go for some ~anti-inflammatory~ weekend snacking!

DRINK ME }: Coconut Frosé by Imbibe :: Literally, a frozen rosé slushy with some coconut water! YESPLZ. Like… I need an endless supply of this on one of my Sunday picnics! Who else is making this all summer? 😉

READ ME }: So You Want to Open a Wine Bar? by guildsomm :: As I started my sommelier studies in 2007, the guild was my fountain of knowledge – to this day, it’s such a phenomenal source for studying wine. This is a VERY informative read for anyone looking to go that path {including costs, etc}. Slightly nosalgic as both Corkbuzz in NYC was a place of inspiration for me since the 2000s, as well as the the 2007-2011 restaurant scene as a whole. A lot changed with the times.

BUY ME }: Bardot Bikini by ASOS :: Eyeing this spicy number for my birthday suit next week! I am obsessed with the top, it would also be super cute to wear from pool to dinner in a high-waisted maxi or these red pants in Palm Springs! What do you think?

LET’S DANCE }: Spring in my Step by Frost :: This track by Frost {DJ Nick Frost from Sydney} is seriously so stunning! If I had to listen to the same song over and over – which I basically do – I’d choose this one with allll the chill vibes. I love the blend of electronica with classic piano keys. If you like Lane 8, you will love. Cheers!

  • it’s been a hot minute but back at it with the #winewednesday 🍷 this wine we got a few cases of after a sick deal at @btlbarn & it has been a favourite go to red of ours. Whenever we don’t know wtf to drink, this red blend is what we’ve been opening and it’s never failed us.

@ROTHWINES 2015 HERITAGE RED, SONOMA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA {$25ish} :: not only do we love this wine, but it’s one we’d give to guests {big fan of party favours for all guests over here} and they all loved it too! Super juicy & ripe with robust tannins! It’s a blend of 51% Syrah with some Petite Sirah, Zin, Cab, Merlot, Malbec, & Petite Verdot. Bold AF with leather, tobacco, juicy berries, & black pepper and those sexy tannins lend a nice velvety mouthfeel.

We’ve been enjoying it outside with the grill! We’ve had it with grilled steaks, burgers, & even grilled pizza! It would go awesome with some lamb or charcuterie too.
